Robert C. Fry, DVM

Judy Gifford

Bob grew up on his family's dairy farm in Chestertown, MD and went to the University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine after graduating from the University of Maryland. In 1977, he began a bovine veterinary practice on the Delmarva Peninsula. His career interest has always centered on production and health issues. In 1994, after working with traditional dairy operations, he was convinced that a healthy alternative was to manage and feed cows with the principles of regenerative grazing. Two years later, he and Judy purchased a perfectly sized farm from one of his clients and began their farming adventure. Bob continues to practice veterinary medicine and provides consulting services to producers in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Raised on a small dairy farm in Connecticut, Judy has always loved cows. When she was 12 years old, she purchased her first Jersey calf. Upon graduating from the University of Connecticut with a degree in Animal Science, she accepted a job as a 4-H and Youth Development Specialist. A Masters degree in public administration led to an internship at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland followed by a stint working on dairy issues for a member of Congress and for the National Milk Producers Federation. During that time, she milked cows part time on the last dairy farm in Rockville, Maryland where the veterinarian was Dr. Fry! In 1996, after working for 16 years in the public sector, Judy realized her lifelong dream of owning a farm and working with Jersey cattle when she and Bob bought what would become St.Brigid's Farm.
